An extremely attractive Aloe with, as its name suggests, succulent, spiny leaves. A great selection for containers, Aloe Hedgehog is an upright, stemless variety with spikes of coral-red flowers in summer. The perfect plant for hot, dry locations, Hedgehog makes quite an impression in the front border or as a container specimen. Aloe Hedgehog is a low growing succulent type plant that forms dense clusters of small clumps or "rosettes", up to 8 inch wide. The leaves are up to 5 inches long and .75 inches wide. Aloe Hedgehog produces pale blue-green to grey-green leaves. They have long, soft, spines along the leaves and a gray-green, waxy surface covered with irregularly spaced bumps. The interesting flower spikes can be up to 12 inches tall each bearing about 20 bright red-orange flowers.
